photo retouching and illustration, repro and training

photoshop

I specialise in high end retouch. My work has been featured in print pieces by Avon Cosmetics, NIKKEN, Wicksteed, Mercedes, Sterling Solutions, Headlands International and many others. I've been using photoshop for the last 20 years (since version 1). Whatever your requirements - from colour correction and cut-outs to high end retouch, photo manipulation and airbrush style illustrating, I can help!

training in photoshop

I have trained graphics professionals and trainees alike in companies all over the UK including Winnetts Graphics and Victory Graphics. Training is provided on site, and I like to make learning as practical and applicable to your workflow as possible. This means that rather than simply presentinga generic A-Z of photoshop feaures as so many training companies do, I will show you what's relevant and why and how to use practical skills that will never go out of date to get YOUR work done.

online service

I'm happy to undertake projects via the web. If you have a project (for example a catalogue) and you have a large number of cut-outs or images to colour correct, why not get in touch.

reprographic freelancing

I also produce technical illustrations and can reproduce poor quality scanned logos and line art.

I am experienced in preparing artwork for all types of print including screen print and flexographic, applying manual trapping to colour sep's and compensating for dot gain and converting standard 4 colour sep's to Achromatic.

training in artworking

On site training in repro and artworking undertaken in Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I do not run A-Z generic training courses but prefer to teach on-site, using your workflow. This ensures that what you learn is practical and applicable to your needs whether in page design, packaging, retouch, illustrating etc.

what is repro?

When I started out in this business 25 years ago - repro was broad term refering to the process of reproducing designs in film to be made into plates or screens. It included typesetting, past-up, dark room photography, hand cut stencils and spotting out - if you don't know what any of that means then don't worry - it's all gone!

The term repro today, tends to refer to all of the technical activity involved in getting artwork onto a press outside of standard artworking. This will include image cut-outs, colour correction, manipulation etc. The line between artworking and repro is becoming ever more blurred!
